Wildwood COTD : Major #11, The Woodward

Today we have The Woodward come out and join us. I love this guardian’s look and feel. It’s quietly powerful, full of strength, yet harks back to the old old days, before Robin Hood, almost back to King Arthur’s time. The Woodward is the Wildwood’s answer and interpretation of the Strength card in RWS decks.

Major 11 ~ The Woodward

I prefer this version of Strength. We can see Strength in his lions head, the cup in his hand (also indicating compassion and the book says, intoxication) and the eagle flying above.

The lynx for me is often a source of interest and internal dialogue. I struggle with this animal in lots of ways. I got the Lynx himself on the 4th of February, and the Woodward was last with us on the 30th of January.

I like the book’s interpretation with the following: “I am not a victim. Treat me with respect . Do not mistake my passivity for weakness.”

And that I personally find rather brilliant!

So, where is your strength coming from today? From the Lynx? From the eagle? From the environment?  Wherever it comes from, however it comes to you, the strength is there. Use it.
