Determine Your Own Story

The cards are great at telling a story, but what happens afterwards, when you’ve left the Tarotists table?

Well, as one great fellow Tarot Reader says; the rest of the story is down to you!

I’m sure if you’re reading this blog, you’ve had a Tarot reading! If you haven’t, what’s stopping you? Maybe nothing, maybe you’re just reading this because you’ve stumbled across it & you’re curious. Great! If you have wondered what a “fortune-teller” might tell you, I doubt you’ll find the answer here, but you’re welcome to carry on reading anyway & see what lies behind the story.

Let me tell you about the time I did actually get myself a reading; the first of many. I say that because I read for myself when I need it & regularly every month with the Tarot Meetup that I co-run with Mary Collin. It’s my role to help others do that very same task, we make an evening of it & now we do that twice a month (weather permitting!)

BlackpoolI also read professionally, but I’m sure since you’re reading this, you figured that out pretty quickly too. So, the time I had a Tarot Reading? It was in Blackpool, on my best friend’s hen weekend. We all agreed (some rather more reluctantly than the others) & so, we went to the pier. She & the others had gotten theirs & I was last up. What the heck was I supposed to do? I am sure I must’ve had the neon sign of “Tarot querent virgin!” pointing at me from high above; if it were flashing, the reader in question didn’t show it. I recall her asking me what I wanted to know? I didn’t want to know about my tall dark handsome stranger; I’d found him. I was engaged to be married to him so I knew where that part of my “destiny” lay.

Looking Backwards On The Next Step

Everything else though was so up in the air. My career, where we were living (we weren’t in the house we now own, we were renting) & so, I wanted to know the rest of my story. I think I just asked for a “general” reading. I didn’t get “my story”.

She told me about my journey up to where I was now, but  I already knew that. She reminded me of a few aspects & take on things that I had forgotten, but nothing new was forthcoming. There was one thing she did tell me though, I was where I was supposed to be in life. I wasn’t meant to be higher up the employment structure in the company I was in (thank the Goddess, looking back). She explained that I needed to concentrate more on my spirituality (yeah, I soon got back into that) but I was where I was supposed to be.

As I left that little kiosk on the pier, I was aware that I was in the right place & time for me, but I had no indication of where to go or what the heck to do next. I am not even sure, looking back some 20+ years later if I even wanted to know. My friends asked me; what did she tell you?! I recall shrugging my shoulders & answering in a non-descriptive; “she didn’t tell me anything new” kind of response.

I could have asked; I know I should have asked. But I had no idea I could ask, though I am sure she must’ve asked me if I wanted to learn anything more.

Driving You Forwards

I’ve had clients like I was through the years. I always stress to them at the end that what happens next, is totally down to them. Do they even have a 5-year plan? Do they need to start making one? Where do you want to be in 5 years? What do you want to be doing in 5 years? What do you need to change to make that happen? All those questions can be answered with a Tarot reading & a plan made to start the ball rolling. The trick here though, is you have to go & get it done for yourself!  I can’t do it for you. I’m the sat-nav in your car of life; you’re the one in the driving seat. I’m the Google Home Device, the Alexa that can answer weird & wonderful questions but in the end, I’m as passive as those devices; you are the one that has to go & make the changes, sit down & write the plan. Or not.

No amount of Tarot readings will ever help you if you’re not going to get up & go get it done yourself, no matter what fancy, well-meaning words I or my peers use. Until you’re open to the fact that when you walk out of that kiosk, finish that email, end that phone call or however you’ve communicated with your chosen reader; nothing we say, write or tell you, will make the slightest bit of difference. That comes down to you.

We know when you’ve bounced from one reader to another, looking for one that gives you the answer you seek but goes against the other 95 you’ve seen already. If you’ve heard it from one of us, you’ve heard it from all of us. Be aware of yourself & go make the rest of your story brilliant!digital signature
