Wildwood COTD : Ten of Vessels

Thank the Goddess it’s Friday at last! And to celebrate, it is as if the Tarot is also celebrating in the form of the Ten of Vessels with the key word of “Happiness” also greeting us! And what a welcome sight this card is for a Friday! Of course, it’s welcome any day of the week, but it’s certainly one that had a Friday feel to it! So, what could this mean for a Friday? Beyond being happy, content, partying, celebrating, what else could it mean? It could mean that you allow yourself to enjoy the moments you find yourself in today, allow yourself to be happy, at least for a time. It does no good to be miserable and unhappy all the time. But what do you need to do to get to this state? Well, it depends on which road you’re travelling on as you read this, but…

Wildwood COTD : Five of Vessels

Today’s Card of the Day is the Five of Vessels. In the RWS, this is not a happy card. In this card, it’s not exactly as dark and depressing, nor it is the totally jovial and happy one that the keyword portrays, which is “ecstasy”. I find it’s a little forced in this card. My toddler’s current favourite phrase is: “Mummy happy now?” He can’t quite say “happy” it comes out more as “appy”, but even when I am not totally happy, I tell him I am and I smile broadly and laugh with him. Somehow, doing that makes me happy. It makes you think about making others happy and in turn, it acts as a contagion to your own psyche: you cheer yourself up. So, while I have Blackmore’s Night “Home Again” going around in my head with this card (nothing unusual there with my clairaudience) I wonder what…

Wildwood COTD : Major 10, The Wheel (again)

Yes, I’ve drawn the same card twice. This happens quite a bit in Tarot, truth be told. However, I so thought I had gotten the message yesterday, to draw this out again means I either missed something (totally possible) or I’ve another stab at the cherry of success. I’ll go with both on this account! So, what is the message for today? Catherine Green posted this comment yesterday, and I think it’s the “second bite of the cherry” for me, personally: I like this card, it resonates with me. For me it means I have the tools to craft the results I crave. Now it is my job to use those tools and manifest my desires. I’m listening, and I’m working on it! Thank you. So, if as Catherine says above, I have all the tools, what am I to weave? I know what I want to weave. Perhaps I…

Wildwood COTD : Major #10, The Wheel

Today’s Card of the Day is from the Major Arcana and is Card 10, entitled The Wheel. I love this card, it’s usually a positive sign that things are changing for the better. About time! I was talking with my best friend last night and both of us were saying we need a change in luck on certain things! So, what can this Wheel tell us? It’s a garment, being weaved. It suggests rather strongly that you can weave your own good luck, your own good fortune. And in truth, you can. But like the water that flows beneath this loom, the Moon and Sun that shine upon it, everything is relative. Are things really that bad? Even the Moon shines and reflects the light of the sun. Even in your darkest hour (now I have Stevie Nicks song coming through, “Has Anyone Ever Written Anything For You?”) there is…

Wildwood COTD : Page of Vessels

Today, as the snow continues to fall, the playful Otter comes to join us as I draw out the Page of Vessels. It’s another Court card and yet another Shamanic trip for us. I went looking for my usual Shamanic website to see what they have to say about the Otter. The first thing that strikes me is the Womens Healing Wisdom, as well as the others, which are listed as: Sensibility without suspicion Guidance in unmasking talents Psychic awareness Faithfulness Recovery issues Understanding the value of playtime It’s the Psychic awareness that also attracts me. With two young children, I so totally understand the last point, but the middle one has me smirking slightly. You see, I’ve never claimed to be psychic, in fact, I’ve only recently changed the wording on the site to say that I might get a message through via my spirit guide, but it’s not…

Wildwood COTD : Four of Arrows

I was struggling to wake up this morning, and I kept thinking that I would really like a Four of Arrows / Swords day. An early night and some rest before the weekend with two little boys & their daddy hits me. And you can see from the title that is EXACTLY what I had jump out at me this afternoon after I had come home from coffee morning. And since I have been home, (in fact, even at coffee morning) I have had the strangest songs going around my head. First, it was the theme tune to Thundercats (the 80’s cartoon series, which most of us at coffee morning remember) and since then it’s been the theme to Prisoner Cell Block H (not seen that in years either), songs by REM (not any particular one) and Miami Sound Machine. I mean, what?!  Clearly there’s a message in there but…

Wildwood COTD : Card 18, The Mirror

And on this glorious Monday, I pull out Card 18, The Moon on the Water  (Now I have “Smoke on the Water” going through my head!) which is a lovely card, when you think about it. There’s an egg that can be seen under the water, reflected by the light of the pale moon. In the distance, you can see a Heron and other animals, silhouetted in the moon light. (Now I have Top Loaders, Dancing in the Moonlight, in my head) Somewhere in me, is a good idea, growing, waiting to hatch out. At the moment, it’s hidden by emotions (symbolised by the water) and the other creatures are waiting for it to emerge. They can tell it’s there, but I can’t, because it’s being hidden. It’s a card of hope, of new beginnings and of one important lesson (Lesson 5 for you Nanny McPhee fans!) Faith.

Wildwood COTD : Page of Arrows

So this is the second day that Priestess Tarot posts about a Page card from this deck. It’s not uncommon to get cards follow each other in various patterns. However today, I really shuffled the cards. They’re breaking in nicely now and are not too stiff to handle any more, but neither are they bent in any way. So, what have we got today? Well, the card shows a small brown bird, a wren, sitting on a twig in the depths of winter. There’s some parts that have been sheltered from the falling snow and this little bird is resting on one such part. It is a reminder I feel that things are often at their worst before they’re better. We’ve just suffered a really bad winter here (if you’re in the UK, Europe or northern USA you’ll have an idea of bad) and it seemed like Springtime was a…
