Welcome to Sunday, the most relaxing day of the week, so they say. Yeah, right! Usually it’s my busiest with school uniforms and work clothes to have sorted out, but today it is not. However, the card of the day is one that usually comes with things, people or situations being taken advantage of.
I was having my arm played with by the cat when I was shuffling and this one jumped out and flipped over in mid shuffle. I’ll blame the cat if today is a bad day! (lol)
As you can see from the image, this card shows a father and daughter, standing their with their bowls held out, asking for…. food I guess. A hand out? What gets me about this card though, is that the land is spent. They’ve taken and taken and taken until there is nothing left. The fire in the background is going to be cathartic, it’s going to cleanse and destroy the old to make way for the new. I guess it’s a mini tower / blasted oak moment, but they’re not going to see it coming.
I want to shout at them to look around them. Why have they only taken? Why did they not give something back? You don’t always have to take! Exchanges are good, you take something but you give something back.
So, what do you need to give back today, rather than take? What seeds do you need to sow? If things are running out, replenish them. At the moment, I can’t do much in the garden, but I am buying seeds and starting things off in the nice warm house, I’m returning to the earth some of what I took. I’ll never be a farmer, but I hope to get my own allotment some time soon!
Update at the end of the day: Today, we learnt of the sad death of Whitney Huston. I grew up, like most people my age, with her music and others ringing in my ears. I’ve had the song “I want to dance with somebody” going through my head for most of the day. That, and Whitney’s rework of Dolly Parton’s “I will always love you”. So, at the end of the day, I’ve this one immortal question to ask: Why?!
