Today’s card of the day is the Five of Vessels with the key word of Ecstasy. As you can see from the image, the lady is dancing in the middle of a pentacle that has each of its points alight with a floating candle.
I am slightly envious of this lady’s legs! It sounds silly, but some of us are not blessed with skinny legs or the ability to wear short skirts!
But that’s not what this card is about. Usually it’s about emotional loss, leaving things behind, crying over spilt milk. And I see none of that here. What I do see though is this lady’s face while she is dancing: She is either concentrating on the moves she’s created, the dance itself, or she’s not really a happy little camper. I can never decide on which. In the words of Buffy: I feel she’s going through the motions, playing out her part.
It may be that in doing that, she’s finally letting go and will smile a genuine smile.
It does not take much for the children to smile, they can smile at the smallest thing, even a funny look. My eldest is quite good at getting my youngest to burst into fits of giggles. However, adults don’t quite work on that level of spontaneity. Perhaps we should?
When you need me, I am here.
