Today my eldest pulled this card, and it’s the card where you have to listen. It’s the Wren, the Page of Arrows.
They would often herald the middle of winter, and then they’d be killed on St Stephens Day, December 26th.
The Wren reminds us to listen but they also remind us to speak softly, gently, without malice. It’s also a reminder to speak clearly and with intent, rather than rambling on just because you like the sound of your own voice.
The wren is the messenger and we can either hear the message, or relay it. If you’re relaying it, don’t lie, don’t dress it up, and don’t con people. Those types of people I find the hardest to give any time towards.
It’s September and as, well being “spider month” (have you seen the size of some of the critters about recently?!) it’s also study month, when the schools go back to session, when the teachers and the students groan, but settle down to learn some other useful life skills, learn to write better, add up properly… gosh, the list is almost endless! And with one child in primary school and another about to enter nursery (kindergarten for the Americans reading this) with the third (and final!) coming along nicely, life I have found is all about education. Either through books or the lessons life has to offer, we’re educated each and every day. What did you learn today?
