We’re on Day 7 of the Tarot Challenge already and with Yuletide / Christmas looming, we won’t get much beyond day 9 or 10 before I take the holidays off to be with the children and family. Today’s question though, is interesting and is a great question! What is your favourite card (both in terms of the deck’s artwork and divinatory meaning)?
This is not a fair question! My favourite card in all 78 is of course, The High Priestess, or The Seer in Wildwood terms! But there are so many beautiful cards, so many beautiful decks that it is hard to narrow it down to just one! However, to answer the question: the card herself remains the same: The Seer. However, when I came up with Priestess Tarot, the Seer and The Wildwood were not yet born. They may well have been a twinkle in the eyes of their creators, Mark Ryan and John Matthews, perhaps even sketches existed in 2007 by Will Worthington, but I doubt it was even a twinkle to those three gentlemen that far back in time.
I took my Tarot name from The High Priestess from Cilla Conway‘s Intuitive Tarot, the image of which is on the left. Cilla’s deck was another I procured at the TABI Conference in 2005 and I’ve had some fantastic results with it over the years.
Her Wildwood counterpart we saw yesterday, but throughout my life, I have felt her knowledge and wisdom, her way of understanding things that cannot be explained with words, she has been there in some shape, way or form. I also love the symbol’s Cilla has put on this card, with the Egyptian Ankh (I wear a gold one around my neck for fertility and protection, two of the traits it represents) and the low crescent moon, symbolising the awakening of the inner self.
Now we’ve explored the High Priestess to some extent, what does she represent for you? Yesterday, she was the symbol of using your intuition, perception. Today, could she be realising and understanding people, situations, things that we cannot manifest into words just yet? She’s that point within us when we start to act on an intuitive basis, rather than one of logic or emotion. Do you need to act like that today? Do you need to borrow her skills at using your own acumen?
I received this via a Tweet last evening, that I thought was rather pertinent: “Anything that is sincere can never fail..your heart.. soul.. and being.. compels you do so, and they would never lie to you” This is what The Seer / High Priestess says to me. Have a good ‘un!
