Power Animal : Coyote, The Wise Fool

Wise Fool, come to a new land… The dulcet tones of Clannad seep into my music loving consciousness at those two words. Are you (or I) a Wise Fool this coming week? When things go wrong, and in life, they do, we’re often our own worst enemies. We beat ourselves up, wishing, and trying, to undo the dastardly deed we’ve done. Though, we can’t. Time doesn’t let us, even for Witches, we don’t all have a time piece like Hermoine Grainger that can let us be in two places at the same time. With two words, the song White Fool, from Clannad’s Sirius Album, come to mind. Not that I’m being racist or anything (I can’t actually think of the right word here!) but the lyrics remind me that anyone can, and does, make a mistake. The song is aimed at the immigrants from Europe who went to the Americas.…

Weekly Power Animal : Adapt

This week we’re joined by the lovely,  Mr (or Mrs) Fox and they’re here to remind us that we need to adapt to the changes happening around us. Adapting to change is the biggest way to accept it. We can try to be a sea-side breaking barrier, but will that achieve anything of use? If the waves coming to us are too big, common sense tells us, to move. It’s self-preservation. It’s also not easy to adapt to the change, to embrace it, but isn’t is healthier to accept that things never stay the same? Okay, you may have had to get crow-barred out of the situation you were in (boot, bum, kick!) but honestly, you’re not a limpet or a sea-snail, you don’t have to stay in the same place for the rest of your life. I rather think the days of having a job or one house for…

Weekly Power Animal : Healing

This week,  we’re joined by The Snake who reminds us that the healing gifts we have,  are loaned and should not be feared. We all need to heal,  either physically,  psychologically or spiritually.  Our mind is one of the strongest healing forces we are born with,  so keeping them clear and not letting them get bogged down can only be helpful to us. Are you afraid to think of actually achieving your goals? Are you afraid of passing that test or exam? Of going for that new job,  perhaps? We always jump when we’re made to,  but what if we jumped when we realised the situation we’re in was making us ill? It’s recognising that illness and then doing something positive about it.  Let’s imagine that we’re caught in an alien vortex of white light and we get told the truth,  gently.  Well,  we can do that ourselves,  no aliens…

Weekly Power Animal : Being Grateful

It’s midweek and instead of the Tarot reading (which happened on Sunday) I’ve pulled a Power Animal Card and we’re joined by the Kangaroo, who is grateful. Today, the fantastic kangaroo comes out to join us and she is here to remind us that we need to be grateful for all that we are blessed with. It’s hard to remember the good things we have when things start (or are) going wrong. We focus on the negatives, rather than the positives (thinking of the 5 of Cups) because of how we’ve had the “material world” drilled into us. I now have part of one of Lilly Allen’s tracks (The Fear) going through my head. Not one of my usual clairaudiance visitors, but hey, she sums it up rather well (even if she swears a lot in her songs;) ) “Thou shalt not want”. How often do we hear that? Does…

27th July – Power of Language

We’re back with the Power Animals for this week and we’ve an interesting animal to help us communicate in our language and in thinking before we speak; A lesson I never seem to learn. I’m terrible for opening my mouth and letting my belly rumble before I’ve engaged my little grey cells. By the time my grey cells have engaged, the moment is over and done with, I’ve said what I’ve said and you can’t undo it. I never seem to learn that I need to think and ponder first, before I engage my mouth. Parrots use a lot of body language to “talk” and communicate with others. They’re beautiful birds, colourful, vibrant. Language and communication can be that. We often call foul language pretty colourful, don’t we? Or is that just me with three sets of infant ears to protect? The other word in this list to the left…

20th July : Bully Richness

This week, The Bull from the lovely Druid Craft Animal Oracle comes out to join us. If we’re looking for richness, financial gain or for things to improve in general, the time has come to make it all happen. The Bull is a symbol of wealth, so if you were thinking about work, it’s auspicious to draw this card or come across this post. However, true wealth is really found within: the heart and soul. Our ancestors understood that. Perhaps we still do, though the Governments of our time would have you believe working 50 hours a week to earn a decent wage is better. (Can you see that tongue poking into the side of my cheek? *grin* ) The Bull is also a sign of fertility, potency, prosperity and abundance. However, they’re not over night success stories, they involve hard work and time. Two things that often these days,…

13th July – Protect And Survive

I downloaded a power animal app this weekend, having not been able to find Ciro Marchetti’s Oracle of Visions. The key words are interesting, as it is what I want to do, not what I feel I ought to do. I feel like I should shout out my lungs at the top of the world, at the moment. I don’t know why, but having the rat come out is kind of synchronistic, advising I should just stay in the shadows, watch. That might be the wiser option. The first part, abundant reproduction, I’ve certainly done my part towards! Stealth, I do need to practise; I’m not as quiet as I need to be, I know I don’t observe as much as I ought to. I do feel as if people expect answers from me all the time, being a mother and wife, I’m supposed to have answer, aren’t I? The…

15th June : Weekend Power Animal ~ Boundaries

Raiding my Tarot store cupboard, I spied an Oracle deck I’ve wanted to use, but never have, so for the purposes of the blog, I’ve decided to draw for us all, a Power Animal card for the coming week. So shuffling the deck (after wiping the sticky stuff off from one of the kids!) I drew The Bear. When I opened the deck the other day, this was the card at the top of the deck. I felt the message then, just as I do now. Her key phrase is “stand your ground” and we as a family have lots of things planned for this weekend. Reading what Stephen D Farmer wrote in book, (p25) this bear is about defining who you are and who you are not. When you can say a clear “no”, then you have the knowledge to say a clear “yes”. Mercury is retrograde at the…
